![]() Was wondering if it was worth it for 2nd Corps to rape and pillage the town? 2nd Corps has the numbers, but defense points in a town is really good. Ultimately, the blue ended up in the town. The yanks kept piling fresh brigades into it. But there were so many brigades at bottom of Oak hill (some not showing due to stealth) I had to wait for them to get beaten up awhile before I could move off towards Seminary. Originally posted by ComputerCrasherDad:Yes, they ended up doing just that (required VP). My partial third division can make it there if set on "Run", just in time to meet 5-6 large union brigades, plus 4-5 smaller ones-(they're no match and Blue has the better ground) Advice? If I wait for 2nd Corps, there's too much blue in the way for them to make it on time. I still have roughly 16 Union brigades defending Seminary Ridge (plus their arty / cav) and I still have to hold Oak Ridge (still plenty of blue down the hill opposite-throwing themselves at Oak Ridge (to no avail-but I still have to defend it) ![]() With a total of 8 inf brigades, 2 arty, 1 whitworth skirm, and 1 cav (1st Corps's first 2 divisions, which is all you get until 2nd Corps appears up north-oh, you DO get 3 more brigades from 1st Corp's third division approx when 2 Corps comes in, but all this is too little too late. (This all worked with BG) My problem isn't that the tactic fails, exactly, it's that I can't get it done in time. ![]() I send one of my 3 brigades holding Mcpherson to help. Next 2 brigades comes in and help from the center, as the blue tends to face the flanking attack from north. When next bunch comes in, I send them up and around to extreme north of Oak Ridge, and start slowly flanking down the ridge toward the VP.
